Obla Di Obla Da

By The Beatles

The thing I find particularly interesting about this artifact is the title, which is, obviously, composed of nonsense words. This speaks to the way that emotion, as a way of knowing, often transcends language as a way of knowing. What we feel cannot always be expressed in language, and sometimes it simply seems more appropriate to express it through a lack of expression. Not having the correct words to express a particular feeling can, however, be an obstacle to knowledge, especially communicating knowledge.

This artifact demonstrates the way that non-language can be used to express emotion, in coordination with language. While the language used does promote the knowledge of the emotion, the vocal tones and background music are what really depicts the emotion of giddiness, showing the limitations that language can have. In addition, the song uses a common symbol, the sun, for happiness. Like many novels and films from various other areas of knowledge, music can use symbols to express emotion.

By Katrina & The Waves

This song, like the one before it, uses the sun as a symbol for happiness. In addition, the lyrics for the song are very simplistic, consisting mostly of repeating phrases. Here, the emotion may be an obstacle to knowledge, as it takes the focus of the song, as it perhaps took the focus of the songwriter.
